Marftha's Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard Island

The Island of Martha's Vineyard has 125 miles of tidal shoreline and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. And, although it lies only seven miles off the coast of Massachusetts, it is a true island--accessible only by boat or plane. The Island is separate from the mainland in more ways than distance and those who come here soon understand what it means to be in a "Vineyard State of Mind."

Martha's Vineyard Island remains largely rural--caught somehow in the simpler days of the past; with open spaces, rolling hills and vistas reaching out to the ocean. There are no billboards, no Starbucks, no malls, no fast food or chain stores and no freeways. Cell phone reception has improved, but remains spotty at best.

When visitors board the ferry or plane to come to the Island, they leave their daily lives behind. Ocean breezes blow away stress, time seems to move more slowly and visitors take the opportunity to relax and reconnect with families and friends. Martha's Vineyard offers an escape from many of life's daily pressures, yet is located less than ninety minutes from New York and thirty minutes from Boston by air. It is no wonder that such a wide range of visitors come to enjoy to the sanctity of Martha's Vineyard each season.
